Taking in account the Uppsala model of Sight Rehabilitation, the Latin-American trainers formed under this school, feel the need to strengthen the Sight Rehabilitation Visual professionals in their actions, proposing the creation of the Low Vision Commission in Icevi, in order to establish networks among the different professionals of the continent so as to reinforce their work inside the rehabilitation team.
After this idea was accepted, such Commission is created achieving the objectives proposed for the first two years (1999-2001) by means of fortifying and favoring this professional sector that was vulnerable till then because of their generous actions.
This accomplishment guides and encourages the work of such professional,
being this a unique experience in the region that powers the role of the Sight Rehabilitator.
