Children with visual impairment risk exclusion from ordinary educational activities or teaching in pre-school and school if educationalists and teachers do not adapt syllabuses to make it possible for all children to take part fully. This can also mean that children with visual impairment miss the opportunity to develop their social competence and they become socially excluded without friends.
With support from the Swedish Association of the Visually Impaired, two parents, who are also educationalists, have compiled both positive examples and practical methods from pre-schools and schools where work with inclusion has consciously been carried out.
The project has also formulated appraisals and attitudes which form the basis inclusive education.
The aim of the project has been to disseminate knowledge and inspiration to parents and personal.
This paper contains an overview of the theoretical section of the book "A place for everyone" as well as presenting a number of purely practical examples of inclusive educational from pre-school and school.
