WORK MATERIAL FOR LOW VISION

For 8 years now, I have been working in low vision, specially with children. Children are in constantly change, though the rehabilitative tasks should be agile and easy to adapt. Lots of children that reach our visual rehabilitation service are not in conditions of using an optic aid, for they haven't reached a perceptive development according to their age. This led me to develop a program adapted to each situation.

It's often difficult to accede to the working necessary materials: some of them are expensive, and others do not have the suitable contrast or by different reasons help only partially. Neither justifies the purchase by the parents, for they'll be used for a short time.

ACTIVE-POSTER

This contribution is aimed to people who work with children: teachers, rehabilitation staff and also their parents. This active-poster aims to show the different pieces which I work with. I would like peoplo to visit the stand, to test the material, including the creation of a little piece and take it with them. I think it is very important that the participants see that everybody is able to work easily with it and have good results.

"ESPUMA PLAST" AND "EVA RUBBER"

Lately, I`ve been working with two materials that gather a lot of qualities: "espuma plast" and "eva rubber".

Some of their characteristics are: - easy to work, as well as together or separate - very soft - cheap - available in many different colors and shades. -"espuma plast" has different thickness - Both materials can be painted with acrylic paint of any color - cheap and easy to handle cutting tool

The are easy and colorful pieces, which I had used with success in the work of preparing children with low vision with the optic aids.
