AIM: This study was aimed to find out role of mother education for prevention of blindness in children.
Methods: In this study 1000 children below age of 6 years were surveyed for various eye problems and blindness. Patients were divided into two groups -group A, hospital delivery cases and group B, home delivery cases.
Results: It was observed that in group A 8% patients had eye ailment, while in group B10% of the patients had eye diseases. However 12% of patients of patients were blind in group B and 3% of patients were blind in group A . Refractive error, vit A deficiency, trachoma and strabismus were commonly encountered diseases in both the groups.
Conclusion: Mother education play an important role in prevention of blindness in children.
